Soothe Bell in Pokelike

Direct answer

In Pokelike v3.1.1, an enabled Soothe Bell makes Lum Berry apply four random +1 stat boosts to each living teammate at fight start, instead of two. These are four rolls, not four different stats: a stat can be selected again. Both are passive items. Soothe Bell alone does not grant Lum Berry’s boosts.

Does Soothe Bell double Lum Berry?

Yes in the checked v3.1.1 standard battle engine. Lum Berry chooses among Attack, Defense, Speed, Special Attack, and Special Defense. Each selection adds one stage. Soothe Bell changes the opening count from two selections to four for every teammate that is still alive, including reserves.

Do not count the number of different stat icons as the number of rolls. In one repeatable test, a reserve received Special Defense +1, Defense +1, and Special Attack +2: three distinct stats, four boosts.

How to get Soothe Bell and Lum Berry

Look for passive-item reward choices in a Challenge run that offers them. One verified path in the v3.1.1 client is a successful non-gauntlet Endless trainer or boss encounter: it opens the passive selector unless that Challenge disables passives.

The selector shuffles eligible, unowned passives and offers up to three. Neither Soothe Bell nor Lum Berry requires a particular team type, a shiny, or a legendary in that selector. Neither appears in the six-item Challenge starting selection, so do not expect to select this pair immediately on a new run.

Choose the item if it appears, and check that it remains enabled in your passive bag. If the bag has reached that mode’s passive limit, acquiring another item opens a replacement choice. Being in the reward pool does not guarantee the next offer, and this is not a Story held-item recipe.

When this combination helps

With Lum Berry already active, Soothe Bell adds two opening rolls per living teammate. That can improve a team’s starting position, but it cannot promise an offensive boost to your lead: either extra roll can choose a defensive stat or repeat a previous one.

Compare the item you would replace before taking the pair. A known benefit that supports your current team may be more useful than two random rolls. This page does not rank the pair against every passive or claim a tested win-rate increase.

If you only see two boosts

  • Check that both items are in the passive bag and enabled. A disabled Soothe Bell leaves Lum Berry at two rolls.
  • Inspect the stage increases, not only the number of different stats highlighted. Repeated selections can produce +2 or more in one stat.
  • Check a teammate that was alive when the fight began. The tested opening code skips fainted members.
  • Record the version and Challenge mode. A deck-battle or other special engine can differ from the standard runBattle path tested here.

What we tested, and what the older report means

We executed the hash-verified official v3.1.1 battle engine in an isolated browser. Six configurations were run with each of 25 fixed random seeds, using two living teammates and one fainted teammate. All 150 cases matched the opening counts in the table; repeated-stat selections were also observed. The original battle and random-number functions were not rewritten.

The older community thread described a two-boost observation without a pinned game version. It remains a historical report, not evidence that the current standard engine gives only two boosts with both items enabled. Our test resolves the current code behavior; it does not reconstruct that player’s old run.

What the source does not prove

  • Verified against the official v3.1.1 standard battle engine on September 17, 2026; special battle engines and other passive combinations were not exhaustively tested.
  • Reward eligibility was checked in client code; this was not a recorded live acquisition or a measured drop-rate study.

General supports

  • 150 seeded original-engine tests: Lum Berry gives two +1 opening boosts per living teammate, four with enabled Soothe Bell; repeated stats are possible.
  • Disabled-passive and fainted-member controls.
  • The passive reward selector offers up to three eligible unowned passives; neither item is in the six-entry Challenge starting-item list.
  • A successful non-gauntlet Endless trainer/boss path invokes the selector unless challengeNoPassives is set.

General limitations

  • Synthetic combatants in an isolated official engine, not a live Challenge acquisition or full-run trial.
  • Does not establish every special mode, deck battle, or passive combination.
  • Random eligibility is not a guaranteed drop or a measured drop rate.
