How the nine Pokésort links work
Read every symbol as a comparison of the Pokémon on its left with the Pokémon on its right. A Gen > link needs a larger generation number on the left. A Stage < link needs a smaller stage number on the left.

- Both first appeared in the same generation.

- The left Pokémon is from a later generation.

- The left Pokémon is from an earlier generation.

- Both have the same number of earlier evolution stages.
- Stage >
- The left Pokémon has more earlier evolution stages.
- Stage <
- The left Pokémon has fewer earlier evolution stages.
- Beats >
- The left Pokémon’s primary type deals at least 2× damage to the right Pokémon’s types combined.
Three mistakes that can invalidate an otherwise good order
- Using a secondary type for Beats. Natu is Psychic/Flying. Its Flying type does not make Natu beat a Grass Pokémon in this puzzle: the check uses Psychic, its first type.
- Checking just one defending type. Tentacool’s Water attack is 2× against Rock but 0.5× against Water. Against Water/Rock Binacle the combined multiplier is 1×, so Beats fails.
- Judging colour or stage from the picture. Mantine is recorded as purple and Stage 1 because Mantyke precedes it. Togepi is white and Basic (0). Use the recorded facts, including baby Pokémon in the evolution chain.
These rules come from the official Pokésort client. The puzzle’s Beats test does not simulate moves, abilities or a battle.

Use this quick reference for 30 Pokémon, or enter any of the 666 supported puzzle candidates in the clue checker to see its facts. Types are listed in order; the first one is used for Beats. Basic means stage 0, Stage 1 has one preceding evolution, and Stage 2 has two.

The list covers the current generator’s candidates through Gen 6; it excludes legendary candidates and Shedinja. It is a puzzle list, not a statement about Story encounter availability.
Use the clues to narrow your next move
- Write each Pokémon’s generation and stage beside its name. Consecutive Stage < links require strictly increasing stages: Basic, then Stage 1, then Stage 2. Two Basic Pokémon cannot satisfy Stage <.
- For a Type = link, list pairs that share either type. For Beats, check the first type of the left Pokémon against both types of the right. These are different rules.
- Try the most constrained pair, then check its other neighbour. A locally correct pair can still fail elsewhere in the full chain. Verify all five links before submitting in the official game.
